Bangor, ME - Husson University came away with wins over Vermont State University Lyndon in both ends of Monday's North Atlantic Conference baseball doubleheader.  With the sweep, the Eagles improved to 15-9 on the season and remain unbeaten in the NAC at 8-0.  The Hornets fell to 6-19 overall and 3-7 in conference.
Game 1 - Husson 9, VTSU Lyndon 3
Evan Duncan (Little Elm, TX) got Lyndon off to a great start with a leadoff home run, but Husson responded with three runs in the bottom of the first inning and pulled away from there.  Jackson Curtis had a double and two singles and scored three times for Husson.  Hunter Curtis added a double and a single and drove in three runs.  Matt Holmes chipped in with two hits, two runs batted in, and two runs scored.
Duncan was Lyndon's hitting star.  In addition to his leadoff homer, he also notched a triple and scored twice.  Matt Gonyeau (Saint Albans, VT) had a double and a single and scored once.  Brayden Ross (West Bridgewater, MA) also doubled.
Connor Abood picked up the win on the mound for Husson, allowing eight hits and striking out seven over 6.2 innings.  Lyndon starter Nathan Bigelow (East Hampton, CT) took the loss.
Game 2 - Husson 13, VTSU Lyndon 0
Lyndon couldn't capitalize on early opportunities in the nightcap, while Husson pounded out 13 runs and 12 hits.  Holmes hit a two-run home run for the Eagles.  Akira Warren had a big game with a triple, two singles, four RBIs, and two runs scored.  Jackson Curtis doubled and drove in a pair.
Bryan Nazario (Little Elm, TX) and Ryan Alt (Poultney, VT) had two hits apiece for Lyndon.  The Hornets couldn't come through with the big hit, as they left the bases loaded twice and standed 11 runners in total.
Three Husson pitchers combined for the shutout, with Ben Phillips, the second of the three, picking up the win.  Lyndon starter Jack Holley (San Gabriel, CA) took the loss.
Lyndon travels to Colby-Sawyer College for a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon.  First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
