Delhi, NY - Vermont State University Lyndon led North Atlantic Conference West Division leading State University of New York at Delhi until the final four minutes of Friday night's NAC contest. Unfortunately for the Hornets, the host Broncos made a couple more plays down the stretch to come away wth a 71-69 victory. Delhi improved to 10-13 overall and 7-5 in conference, and clinched the NAC West top seed for the upcoming conference championship tournament. Lyndon fell to 7-17 on the season and 3-9 in conference.
Gustarling Louis led a balanced Delhi attack with 15 points. Lester McCarthy and Isaiah Barnes scored 14 points apiece, with McCarthy dishing out fie assists. Warren Davis scored 13 points and grabbed a game high eight rebounds. Brennan Heaven also reached double figures with 11 points.
Wesley McIntyre (Troy, NY) scored a game high 19 points to lead Lyndon. Max Kocha (Jupiter, FL) scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds. Victor Kukta Reyes (Fitchburg, MA) added ten points. Deshawn Ford (Fort Walton Beach, FL) grabbed seven rebounds and Tyler Bergmans (Vergennes, VT) dished out four assists.
The Hornets will conclude the regular season with a NAC game at the State University of New York at Cobleskill on Saturday afternoon. The winner of that contest will clinch the final NAC West playoff berth.
