Hornet men take down SUNY Delhi

Delhi, NY - ` In a North Atlantic Conference men's basketball tussle at Floyd L. Maines Arena, the Hornets of Vermont State University Lyndon came away with an 84–73 road win over the State University of New York at Delhi Broncos on Saturday afternoon.

Lyndon built a 9-point halftime edge (35–26) thanks to a steady inside presence and efficient first-half shooting.  The Hornets then turned up the pressure out of the break, hitting 19 of 33 from the floor in the second half to maintain their advantage.

Three Lyndon players reached the 20-point mark.  Sophomore guard Wesley McIntyre (Troy, NY) scored 22, as did senior forward Matt Doyle (Whitesboro, NY).  Graduate student guard Gregory Gonyea Jr. (Dolgeville, NY) added 21 points.  The threesome combined for 65 of the Hornets' 84 points.  Doyle also paced the team on the boards with 15 rebounds, while McIntyre added five boards and two assists.  Sophomore forward Max Kocha (Palm Beach Gardens, FL) finished with ten points, eight rebounds, and six assists, while senior co-captain Chad Martin (Henniker, NH) grabbed nine boards.
