Miami Gardens, FL - The Vermont State University Lyndon men's basketball team faced their toughest test of the season on Sunday, taking on Tufts University, the #21 team in the nation according to D3hoops.com, on the final day of the 2025 Cruzin Classic. That task was made even more difficult with several Hornets out of the lineup due to injury, and the result was a 117-51 loss to the Jumbos. Tufts picked up their ninth straight win and improved to 9-2. Lyndon fell to 4-6.
Lukas Schmid led Tufts with 35 points, Scott Gyimesi added 13 points, while Theo Liu and Isaac Friedman chipped in with 11 points apiece. Joshua Bernstein pulled down 15 rebounds for the Jumbos, while Ricardo Nieves and Griffin Linstra dished out five assists apiece.
Freshman guard Jordan Thibodeaux (Columbus, GA) led Lyndon with 13 points. Max Kocha (Palm Beach Gardens, FL) was the only other Hornet in double figures, finishing with ten points.
Lyndon is off until the new year. The Hornets' next contest is on Friday, January 2nd, when they host Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in their final non-conference game of the season. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
