Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Hornet women can't keep up with New England College

Henniker, NH - The Vermont State University Lyndon Hornets women's basketball team struggled from the field and couldn't overcome a hot-shooting New England College Pilgrims squad, falling 82–46 Tuesday night in non-conference action at Bridges Gym.

Lyndon managed just 22.2 percent shooting (14-of-63) overall and 13.0 percent from three (3-of-23), while the Pilgrims shot 43.2 percent from the field and 35.0 percent from beyond the arc.

Senior forward Kiara Mack (Winooski, VT) led the Hornets with 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting, and sophomore guard Skylar Begay (Tucson, AZ) added 13 points. Freshman forward Keira Quintal (Sheffield, VT) contributed three points and seven rebounds, while senior guard Ella Huntington (Taylorsville, UT) chipped in four points and five rebounds.

New England College got 21 from Mackenzie McDonald and 20 from Xitlali Montesino, fueling a commanding lead early that the Hornets could never overcome.

The loss dropped Lyndon to 6–3 on the season, while NEC improved to 6-3.  The Hornets will wrap up the fall semester on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Vermont State University Johnson for a 3:00 pm North Atlantic Conference contest.
