North Adams, MA - Vermont State University Lyndon junped out to a 15-10 lead eight minutes into Friday's men's college basketball game at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. The Hornets were unable to maintain their momentum, however, as the host Trailblazers outscored the Hornets, 31-14, over the final 12 minutes of the opening half and cruised to a 96-73 non-conference victory. MCLA improved to 2-10 on the season, while Lyndon fell to 4-8.
JoJo Garcia topped five double figure scorers for MCLA, finishing with 22 points and pulling down a game high 11 rebounds. Hayden Morris-Gray and Quentin Gittens added 14 points apiece, and Jackson Brown and Craig Williams chipped in with 12 and 10 points respectively.
Gregory Gonyea Jr. (Dolgeville, NY) was the only Lyndon player to reach double figures, finishing with a game high 23 points. Matt Doyle (Whitesboro, NY) grabbed seven rebounds for the Hornets.
Lyndon will jump back into North Atlantic Conference play on Monday when they travel to Husson University for a 6:00 pm tip-off.
