Victoria Fitih runs competitively in collegiate cross country debut

Randolph, VT - Sophomore Victoria Fitih (Madison, TN) made her Vermont State University Lyndon women's cross country debut on Saturday morning, competing in the Silloway Maple Syrup Challenge, hosted by Vermont State University Randolph.  Fitih completed the 5K course in 28:59.35, good for 46th place in the field of 56 runners.  She was the first female cross country runner to compete for Lyndon since 2021.  The Hornets did not post a team score.

Middlebury College ran away with team honors, easily outdistancing Norwich University.  The Panthers' Bea Parr took individual honors, finishing in a time of 19:39.85, as Middlebury runners swept the first 15 overall places.

VTSU Lyndon head coach Chris Chichester was impressed with Fitih's performance in her first ever cross country race.  "Victoria (Rosie) ran an incredible debut race as a Hornet. This was her first distance race ever and she exceeded all expectations. She is an exceptional athlete.  It was a successful day and it was great to have a competitor on the women's team for the first time since 2021."

Lyndon's next race will be the Terrier Invitational at Thomas College on Saturday, September 28th.  The women's race is scheduled to go off at 10:00 am.
