Lyndonville, VT - The Vermont State University Lyndon baseball team fell eight runs behind Fisher College early on in Tuesday's non-conference game. The Hornets were able to cut the deficit in half, but couldn't dig all the way out of the hole, as Fisher prevailed, 12-6. The Falcons moved above .500, to 24-23 on the season, while the Hornets fell to 3-24.
Jatnier Torres had a big game for Fisher with a home run, a double, a single, three runs batted in and three runs scored. Jeremy Renta and Yariel Salinas added two hits apiece. Fernando Ortiz, the second of eight Falcon pitchers, picked up the win.
Matt Doherty (Gardner, MA) accounted for half of Lyndon's offense with his three-run home run. TJ Santaw (Newport, VT) and Brandon Fernandez (Sebring, FL) had two hits apiece for the Hornets. John Kuhn (Cape Coral, FL) started for the Hornets and took the loss.
Lyndon travels to the University of Maine at Presque Isle for a four-game North Atlantic Conference series this weekend. The Hornets and Owls will start things off with a noon doubleheader on Saturday, then play two more on Sunday.
