Northfield, VT - Just as they did a week ago, Vermont State University Lyndon again traveled to Norwich University for a non-conference men's tennis matchup. Norwich evened their season record at 3-3, while Lyndon fell to 0-4.
The Cadets seized control from the get go by sweeping the three doubles matches, as Lyndon was unable to take more than two games in any of the three flights.
The Hornets were able to break through in singles play. At first singles, Jeffrey Blais (Newport, VT) picked up a hard fought victory over Terrance Bayly-Henshaw of Norwich, 6-4, 6-3. And in the most competitive match of the day, third singles, Lyndon's Stephen Wutzl (Brookfield, CT) rallied for a 1-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6) victory over the Cadets' Matthias Tchantouridze. The second sngles match between David Gratton (Newport, VT) of Lyndon and Assumpta Nandawula of Norwich was also highly competitive, with Nandawula prevailing 7-5, 7-6 (7-5). The Cadets swept the other three singles flights to account for the final result.
