Johnson, VT - Vermont State University Lyndon opened up a dpuble digit lead midway through the fourth quarter of Tuesday evening's non-conference women's basketball game at Vermont State University Johnson. The Hornets withstood a late Badger rally to come away with a 62-58 victory in teh final game of the season for both teams. Lyndon finished with an overall record of 11-14, while Johnson ended their campaign at 2-21.
Kadienne Whitcomb (West Burke, VT) scored a career high 23 points, connecting on eight of 13 shots, to pace the Hornets. Sage Smith (Colebrook, NH) notched a double double with 16 points and ten rebounds,
Matt House scored a game high 30 points to lead Johnson. Faith Meade added 13 points and Gabrielle Wardwell recrded a 11 point, 17 rebound double double.
Tuesday's game was the final one for Lyndon seniors Saleena Porter (St. Johnsbury, VT), Kerigan Disorda (Benson, VT), Chloe McIntire (Bradford, VT), and Hannah Gordon (Concord, VT). Whitcomb and Smith are expected to be among ten returnees who will form the core of next year's team.
