Lyndonville, VT - The University of Maine at Farmington defeated Vermont State University Lyndon, 108-75, on Saturday afternoon. The Beavers improved to 13-8 overall and 6-5 in NAC play with the win. The Hornets fell to 1-19 on the season and 1-9 in conference.
Leading 21-18 just over nine minutes into the contest, UMF went on a 20-7 run over the next four minutes to open up a 16-point advantage,. The Beavers cruised from there, as the Hornets were never able to bring the game back to single digits.
Simon Chadbourne led UMF with 28 points on 9/10 shooting, including 8/9 from beyond the three-point arc. Jason Reynolds added 18 points and grabbed six rebounds while Jordan Anthony and Dylan Mickle chipped in with 14 points and six rebounds each.
Peyton Olsen (Middleburgh, NY) paced the Hornets with 23 points. Gregory Gonyea Jr. (Dolgeville, NY) also reached double figures with 15 points. Tavarius Vance (Barre, VT) was Lyndon's top rebounder with seven and Tyrese Harris (Fort Benning, GA) dished out six assists.
Lyndon recognized its six senior men's basketball players, Olsen, Harris, Luke Bergmans (Ferrisburgh, VT), Mondwell Bukle (Fayetteville, NC), Isaac McCann (Phoenix, AZ), and Aiden Trapani (Deltona, FL), prior to today's contest. They were joined by family and friends as the Lyndon basketball community thanked them for their contribution to Hornet basketball and to the Lyndon campus.
The Hornets will go on the road for a pair of NAC contests against Lesley University next Friday and Saturday. The Hornets and Lynx will square off at Medford High School at 5:30 pm on Friday and 1:00 pm on Saturday.
