Peyton Olsen scores 1,000th point as a Hornet in loss at SUNY Cobleskill

Cobleskill, NY - The State University of New York at Cobleskill pulled away from Vermont State University Lyndon for a 100-63 North Atlantic Conference men's basketball victory on Saturday afternoon.  The Fighting Tigers improved to 10-7 on the season and 4-2 in the NAC.  Lyndon remained winless in 15 games, including six conference outings.

Lyndon's Peyton Olsen (Middleburgh, NY) scored his 1,000th point in a Hornet uniform when he converted a free throw early in the second half.  Olsen finished with a game high 16 points to run his Lyndon total to 1,004 points..  Olsen also scored 152 points playing for SUNY Canton, and now has scored a total of 1,156 as a college player.  He is only the fourth Lyndon player to top 1,000 points since the program rejoined Division III and joined the NAC in 2008.  Lyndon Hall of Famer Jason Gray (East Thetford, VT) scored 1,345 points in 102 games from 2009 to 2013.  David Johnson (Washington, DC) scored 1,123 points in 73 games from 2012 to 2015.  Zach Falkenburg (Bridgeport, NY) scored 1,249 points in 85 games from 2018 to 2022.

Kobe Long was tops among five double figure scorers for the Tigers, tying Olsen for game honors wiht 16 points.  Trent Lomax added 15 points and Chance Peterson chipped in wiht 12 points.  Markel Jenkins and Devin Dennard rounded out the double figure scorers with ten points apiece.  Andre Starks posted game highs with ten assists and eight rebounds.

Mondwell Bukle (Pyeongtaek, South Korea) was the only other Lyndon player in double figures, as he finished wiht ten points.  Isaac McCann (Phoenix, AZ) pulled down seven rebounds while Olsen, Gregory Gonyea Jr. (Dolgeville, NY) and Chad Martin (Henniker, NH) all dished out three assists.

The Hornets return home for the first time in overe six weeks when they host defending NAC champion State University of New York at Delhi on Tuesday.  Tip-off in Stannard gym is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
