North Adams, MA - Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts blitzed Vermont State University Lyndon with nine goals in the first 28 minutes of Tuesday's non-conference men's soccer game. The Trailblazers cruised to a 12-0 victory, which evened their record at 3-3-1 on the season. The Hornets remained winless in seven starts.
Ten different Trailblazers scored in the game, with Avery Manzolini and Yusuf Mami each finding the back of the net twice. MCLA outshot Lyndon, 54-3, and earned 11 corner kicks to only one for the Hornets. Joseph Patrick Osborn (Hanover, NH) had Lyndon's only two shots on goal, with David Gratton (Newport, VT) registering the only other Hornet shot.
Lyndon goalkeeper Robert McDonald (Arnold, MD) made a career high 19 saves in goal, while three MCLA keepers combined for the shutout while making two saves.
The Hornets will resume North Atlantic Conference play on Saturday afternoon when they travle to Bangor, ME, to face Husson University at 3:30 pm.
