Lyndonville, VT - Maine Maritime Academy sprinted to a 12-0 lead after one quarter enroute to a 28-2 North Atlantic Conference men's lacrosse victory on Saturday afternoon. The Mariners improved to 10-3 overall and 7-0 in conference with the win. Lyndon fell to 1-5 on the season and in conference.
16 different Mariners scored in the game, led by Myles Mayhew-Reilly, who tallied four goals and seven assists. Sam Nichol added four goals and an assist and Brendan Reddington chipped in with three goals. Jed Astbury recorded 16 ground balls and Mayhew-Reilly had eight ground balls and four turnovers.
Bodhi English (Livermore, CA) and Foster Smallman (Beverly, MA) scored the two Lyndon goals. Isaiah Terrill (Barre, VT) had an assist. Gilbert Flores (Winstead, CT) and Koltin LeDuc (Tunbridge, VT) had four ground balls each and LeDuc caused three turnovers.
Maine Maritime goalies Teddy Easley, Andrew King, and Will Farrell each made one save. Matthew McGeehan (Milford, CT) went the distance in goal for Lyndon and was credited with four saves.
The Mariners outshot the Hornets, 50-10, and held a 50-16 advantage in ground balls. Maine Maritime also won 27 of 33 faceoffs.
Prior to today's game, Lyndon seniors LeDuc and Alex Reed (Woodstock, VT) were recognized for their contributions to Lyndon lacrosse as they were joined on the field by their fathers.
The Hornets will return to action on Wednesday evening when they travel to Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts for another NAC game. Game time is 6:00 pm/
