North Adams, MA - Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts scored the first four goals of the game and never looked back, cruising to a 20-2 non-conference women's lacrosse victory over Northern Vermont University-Lyndon on Thursday evening. With the win, the Trailblazers improved to 2-1 on the season, while the Hornets remain winless in four outings on the season.
Summer Nichols had a huge game, scoring eight goals to lead MCLA. Julia Graham and Nina Reyes scored five and four goals respectively for the Trailblazers. Skyelyn Haynes added two goals and two assists and Rylie Bates chipped in a goal and an assist.
Abigail Stacy (Barre, VT) scored Lyndon's first goal at 5:58 of the first quarter when she caused a Trailblazer turnover, picked up the ground ball and fired it into the goal. Maachah Krull (Woodsville, NH) picked up Lyndon's other goal late in the first half off of an assist from Kiara Mack (Winooski, MA).
The Trailblazers outshot the Hornets, 38-9. Lori Lester went the distance in goal for MCLA, earning the win while making five saves. Alexis Leroy (St. Petersburg, FL) and Karly Cordwell (Milan, NH) each played a half in goal for Lyndon and combined for 12 stops.
The Hornets are off until April 8th, when they will open North Atlantic Conference play by hosting the State University of New York at Canton at 1:00 pm.
