Hornet Men's Tennis sweeps SUNY Delhi

STOWE,VT--  In an impressive performance, the Northern Vermont University-Lyndon Men's Tennis team defeated the State University of New York-Delhi 9-0 in a Sunday North Atlantic Conference match at the Topnotch Tennis Academy. The Hornets dominated the competition, winning all three doubles matches and all six singles matches.

In second doubles, Lyndon's Garrick Webster (Terryville,CT) and Quinlan Peer (Saranac Lake,NY) defeated Ryan Fitzpatrick and Moises Saintil, 8-2.  In first doubles, Jeffrey Blais and David Gratton overcame Dominick DeBonis and Ben Anderson, 6-8. Matthew Condon and Joseph Patrick Osborn completed the sweep with an 8-0 victory over Naphtali Regulis and Chris Galves in third doubles.

In the singles matches, Peer continued his strong play by defeating DeBonis 6-2, 6-1 in second singles, while Blais clinched the match for the Hornets with a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Fitzpatrick in first singles. Webster battled Anderson in a tight match, ultimately prevailing 2-6, 6-1, 1-0, winning the third singles tiebreaker 10-7. Gratton also had a dominant performance in fourth singles, defeating Saintil 6-0, 6-2. Condon beat Regulis 6-0, 6-1 in fifth singles. James Salvas (Morrisville,VT) completed the sweep with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Galves in sixth singles.

The Hornets will play again on Wednesday against Castleton University at 6pm at Topnotch in Stowe.
