New London, CT - Mitchell College scored the first three goals of the game and never looked back, handing Northern Vermont University-Lyndon a 15-2 defeat in Saturday's women's lacrosse game. The Mariners evened their record at 1-1 on the season, while the Hornets fell to 0-2.
Daniella Holland had a big game to lead Mitchell, tallying six goals and an assist. Lauren Cordero and Jessica Krupnikoff added three goals each. Hannah Gomes scored twice and Mariah Travisano had a goal. Rachel Palladino (Manlius, NY) and Isabel Bourgeois (St. Johnsbury, VT) scored goals for Lyndon.
Gomes picked up the win in goal for Mitchell, making six saves in three quarters of work before giving way to Arianna Stark. Bourgeois took the loss for the Hornets. She made four saves in the first half and Alexis Leroy (St. Petersburg, FL) made six stops in the second half.
Mitchell outshot Lyndon, 36-13, and dominated ground balls, 40-15.
Lyndon will return to action on Wednesday, March 22nd, when they travel to New England College for a 7:00 pm non-conference game.
