Game Recap: Baseball |

Hornet baseball splits a pair with Lesley

Watertown, MA - Northern Vermont University-Lyndon jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the nightcap of Saturday's baseball doubleheader at Lesley University.  The Hornets made that stand up and came away with a 7-4 victory to earn a split of the twin bill after Lesley had picked up a 3-2 walk-off win in the opener.  Lyndon moved to 2-6 on the season while Lesley ended the day 2-4.

Game 1 - Lesley 3, NVU-Lyndon 2

Adam Budorick led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a triple, then scored the game winner when Justin Dennett reached on an error.  Dennett had a pair of runs batted in and the Lynx stole seven bases in the game.  The Hornets were able to pound out five extra base hits but only capitalized for two runs.

Patrick Teasdale picked up the win in relief for Lesley.  Dale Ostermann (Milford, DE), the third Lyndon pitcher of the game, took the loss.

Game 2 - NVU-Lyndon 7, Lesley 4

The Hornets jumped on Lesley starter Brian Jacobus for three runs in the top of the first inning, with the big blow a Matt Doherty (Gardner, MA) solo home run.  Lyndon broke the game open with four more runs in the third inning.  EJ Camden (Corona, CA) had a pair of hits and two RBIs and Ostermann had a double and a single.  James Brandon had a double and a pair of singles to pace Lesley.

Jacob Wechselblatt (Reston, VA) sailed through the first four innings before allowing a pair of runs in the fifth inning.  He struck out five and earned the win.  Nathan Bigelow (East Hampton, CT) didn't allow a hit in the sixth inning, and Storm Carlisle (Lewes, DE) picked up the save with a scoreless seventh.  Jacobus took the loss for Lesley.

Lyndon is scheduled to host Massachusetts Maratime Academy in a doubleheader next Saturday, with first pitch slated for 1:00 pm.
