Box Score Medford, MA - Northern Vermont University-Lyndon scored the first seven points of their game at Lesley University and never looked back on Monday evening. The Hornets cruised to an 84-40 non-conference victory over the Lynx and improved to 8-9 on the season. Lesley falls to 2-13 on the campaign.
Sage Smith (Colebrook, NH) knocked down a jump shot on Lyndon's first possession of the game. Faith Poirier (Portsmouth, NH) then hit a three-pointer following a Lesley turnover and Lea Crompton (Dunbarton, HN) scored following another turnover and the Hornets were off and running. Lesley's Blair Jordan scored to get the Lynx on the board. The Hornets followed with a 15-0 run to make it 22-2, and the game was never in doubt.
Lyndon would take a 44-15 lead into halftime and continue to pull away further after intermission. The Hornets' 84 points scored is the team's highest output this season.
Saleena Porter (St. Johnsbury, VT) led a balanced Lyndon attack with a career high 17 points and eight rebounds. Crompton added 15 points and six assists. Nyah Garner (Birmingham, AL) hit double figures for the first time as a Hornet, as she tallied 13 points. Poirier finished with 11 points.
Kizziah Ruff was the only Lesley player to score in double figures, as she recorded 16 points. Alexandra Kerley pulled down a game high 11 rebounds.
The Hornets made 33 of 70 shots from the floor (47.1%) including eight of 15 (53.3%) from behind the three-point arc. Lesley was ice cold all evening, making only 12 of 58 attempts (20.7%) and only two of 14 (14.3%) from distance. The Hornets forced 31 Lesley turnovers leading to 28 points.
Lyndon will return to North Atlantic Conference play on Tuesday evening when they travel to Thomas College for a 6:30 pm tip-off.
