Bangor, ME - Northern Vermont University-Lyndon dug a 21-2 hole at the start of Friday's North Atlantic Conference quarterfinal game at Husson University.  The Hornets were never able to dig their way out, as the host and NAC East top seed Eagles cruised to an 89-66 victory to advance to Saturday's semi-final.  Husson will face the University of Maine at Farmington, a 96-79 winner over the University of Maine at Presque Isle in Friday's second East quarterfinal.  The Eagles improve to 13-9 with the win, while the Hornets see their season end at 7-18.

Justin Thompson led a balanced Husson attack with 17 points and 14 rebounds.  DJ Busey added 14 points and Brett Cunningham came off the bench to score 13 points.  Justice Kendall finished with 12 points and a team best three assists and Jared Balser scored 10 points and pulled down nine rebounds.

Luke Fredsell (Whitesboro, NY) paced the Hornets with 21 points, 15 of which came in the second half.  Mondwell Bukle (Pyeongtaek, South Korea) scored 11 of his 14 points after intermission.  Zach Falkenburg (Bridgeport, NY) was Lyndon's only other double figure scorer, finishing with 10 points.

Falkenburg and Fredsell are both expected to graduate this spring.  The remainder of the Hornet roster is expected to return and form the core of next year's team.
