Boston, MA - Wentworth Institute of Technology closed the first quarter of Tuesday's women's basketball game against Northern Vermont University-Lyndon with an 8-0 run.  The Leopards held off the Hornets the rest of the way and came away with a 53-38 victory.  Wentworth evened their record at 1-1 on the season, while Lyndon fell to 1-2.

Maddy Foster paced Wentworth with 14 points.  Gabby Amoddio and Abriana Busbey added 12 and 10 points respectively.  Riann Fortin (Derby, VT) was the only Hornet in double figures, finishing with a game high 19 points and 10 rebounds.

The Hornets were victimized by a cold shooting night, only connecting on 15 of 59 (25.4%) shots and only 3 of 26 (11.5%) from behind the three-point arc.  Meanwhile, the Leopards made 19 of 56 (33.9%) shots, including 7 of 23 (30.4%) from three-point range.  Both teams turned the ball over 31 times and Wentworth held a 45-39 rebounding advantage.

This weekend the Hornets will compete in the annual Barre Granite Association College Classic at the Barre Auditorium.  Lyndon will take on Castleton University on Friday evening at 5:00 pm, then face Norwich University on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 pm.
