Lyndonville, VT - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon volleyball team returned home for the first time in four weeks when they hosted Husson University in North Atlantic Conference match on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately for the Hornets, the visiting Eagles came away with the win in straight sets, 25-13, 25-8, 25-13. Husson improved to 9-8 overall and 4-1 in NAC play with the win, while Lyndon fell to 0-19 on the season and 0-5 in conference.
Julia Leavitt and Cheyenne Young led Husson with eight and seven kills respectively. Setter Alyvia McIntyre had 15 assists and nine aces, and libero Amber May had nine digs. Calysta Lohman (Seward, AK) had three kills for Lyndon. Saleena Porter (St. Johnsbury, VT) recorded seven assists and Charlotte Morris (Middletown, D) posted ten digs.
The Hornets return to action on Sunday afternoon when they host Maine Maritime Academy at noon. It will be Senior Day, as Lyndon will recognize their senior volleyball players prior to the match. It will also be a Dig Pink Match, as the Hornets will raise money and awareness for the Side-Out Foundation for breast cancer research.
