Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Hornet men overwhelmed by Thomas

Lyndonville, VT - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon men's soccer team fell behind early and never recovered on Sunday afternoon, falling 8-0 to Thomas College in the North Atlantic Conference opener for both teams.  The Terriers remain unbeaten in three games this season, while the Hornets are winless in four starts.

Thomas scored their first goal just over ten minutes into the game when Hunter Smith took a long ball, beat the defense, and fired a shot past Lyndon goalkeeper Brett Roy (Newport, VT).  Just over eight minutes later Prince Kunieki headed in a ball following a scramble off of a corner kick.  Zenawi Bowen then scored three straight goals to send the Terriers into intermission with a 5-0 lead.

Thomas continued to get the best of play in the second half.  Joshua Joseph scored a pair of unassisted goals, them Christopher Williams converted a cross from Shane Robinson for the final tally.

Thomas outshot Lyndon, 25-2, and was awarded 10 corner kicks to one for the Hornets.  Roy made four stops in the nets, while Terrier goalkeepers Jonathan Leclair and Jayce Nielson recorded the combined shutout without facing a shot on goal.

The Hornets will be home again on Tuesday afternoon for a 4:30 non-conference kickoff against Vermont Technical College.
