Lyndonville, VT - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon men's soccer team couldn't get anything going on the offensive half in Saturday's North Atlantic Conference men's soccer game against NAC East leading SUNY Polytechnic Institute. Meanwhile SUNY Poly profited from a pair of penalty kicks on the way to a 3-0 victory. With the win the Wildcats improve to 9-1-2 overall and 5-0-1 in the NAC. The Hornets fall to 1-10 on the season and 0-6 in conference.
Poly got on the board in the 15th minute when Doreion Alleyne scored following a scramble in the box following a Wildcat free kick. Poly added a pair of penalty kick goals from Wakeley Banker in the 25th minute and Kevin Ryan in the 55th minute to account for the final score.
The Wildcats recorded 24 shots, to only one by Lyndon's Joseph Patrick Osborn (Norwich, VT). Poly also had 13 corner kicks to one for Lyndon. Hornet goalkeeper Brett Roy (Newport, VT) had six saves, while Wildcat keepers James D'Alessio and Chase Coluccio combined for the clean sheet without having to make a save.
Lyndon will return to the Varsity Field pitch tomorrow afternoon when they host Cazenovia College tomorrow afternoon on Senior Day. The Hornets will honor this year's senior class prior to kickoff, which is scheduled for 2:15 pm.
