Plymouth, NH - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon men's soccer team wrapped up their 2021 season with a non-conference matchup at Plymouth State University on Tuesday afternoon. The Panthers improved to 4-10 on the season, while the Hornets finished the campaign with a 1-15 record.
Plymouth got on the board less than two minutes into the game when Alyosha Westbrook flicked in a corner kick from David Nilsson. The Panthers made it 2-0 in the 14th minute on another corner, as Frankie Driscoll headed in Filip Banggren's kick. Nilsson scored a pair of unassisted goals in the 18th and 47th minutes to account for the rest of the scoring.
The Panthers outshot the Hornets, 31-11. Lyndon freshman Nick Trapp (Carmel, NY) had three shots on goal. Hornet goalkeeper Brett Roy (Newport, VT) made ten saves in net, while his Plymouth counterpart, Brayden White, made seven stops to post the clean sheet.
The Hornets will graduate five seniors, but are expected to return as many as 13 players in 2022, including nine who were competing in their first intercollegiate season this year.
