Box Score Johnson, VT - Northern Vermont University-Lyndon had little trouble with NVU-Johnson in Tuesday evening's North Atlantic Conference women's basketball game, as they built a 21-point first half lead and cruised to a 70-52 victory. The Hornets wrap up the regular season with a 10-14 overall record and a 6-8 mark in NAC play. Lyndon is locked into the #5 seed for the upcoming NAC Championship Tournament. Johnson concludes their regular season with an overall record of 4-20 and a 4-10 record in conference play.
Faith Poirier (Portsmouth, NH) was tops among four double figure scorers for Lyndon, finishing with 16 points. Alissa Mitchell (Milton, NH) finished with 15 points, five rebounds, and seven assists. Shaylan Mosher (Newark, VT) and Lea Crompton (Dunbarton, NH) chipped in with ten points apiece. Alisha Celley (Cabot, VT) pulled down a team best eight rebounds.
Ellery Kiefer led Johnson with 12 points and nine rebounds. Melissaann Clark was the only other Badger in double figures, as she finished with ten points.
The Hornets will travel to #4 seed Thomas College this weekend for a NAC quarter-final contest. The date and time for the game will be announced later this week.
Lyndon's victory over Johnson also completed the Hornets' season sweep of the Badgers and earned Lyndon a point in the Northern Vermont University President's Cup Challenge, the annual competition between NVU's two campuses for athletic superiority.
