Waterville, ME - In a game that featured several big runs by both teams, the Northern Vermont University-Lyndon women's basketball team came up just short in Friday evening's North Atlantic Conference contest at Thomas College.  The Terriers prevailed, 65-61, to improve to 6-9 on the season and remain unbeated at 5-0 in NAC play.  The Hornets fall to 4-10 overall and remain winless in five conference starts.

The hosts jumped out to a 9-2 lead just three and a half minutes into the game.  Lyndon responded by outscoring Thomas 26-8 over the next 12 minutes to move in front 28-17 midway through the second quarter.  The Hornets maintained their lead for the remainder of the quarter, taking a 30-22 lead into halftime.

Thomas started the third quarter strong, eventually regaining the lead, 38-36, on a three-pointer from Kaylee Ravagli at the 5:36 mark. Back to back baskets from Alissa Mitchell (Milton, NH) and Faith Poirier (Portsmouth, NH) put the Hornets back in front.  The two teams battled back and forth, before another Ravagli three just before the quarter ended sent Thomas into the final period with a 49-47 lead.

Thomas was able to extend their advantage to as much as 62-50 with just under five minutes to go in the contest.  The Hornets would rally, but never got closer than the final margin.

Ravagli tallied a game high 21 points on the strength of 6/7 shooting beyond the arc.  Addie Brinkman added 19 points and Malorie Weaver chipped in 12 for the Terriers.  For the Hornets, Ashlynn Bardos (Beaumont, CA) and Shaylan Mosher (Newark, VT) tied for team high with 12 points each.

The Hornets return to action on Saturday afternoon when they play at the University of Maine at Farmington.  Tip-off is set for 1:00 pm.
