Box Score Lyndonville, VT - Northern Vermont University-Lyndon built an 11 point halftime lead in Tuesday's non-conference women's basketball game against Colby-Sawyer College. The visiting Chargers rallied, however, tying the game after three quarters and pulling away in the final frame for a 70-57 victory over the Hornets. Colby-Sawyer improves to 8-1 on the season while Lyndon drops to 1-7.
Tiana Sugars led Colby-Sawyer with 29 points and ten rebounds. Lexie Hamilton added 14 points and a game high nine assists. Joslin Wainwright also posted a double double with 11 points and ten rebounds.
Alisha Celley (Cabot, VT) led the way for the Hornets, finishing with 16 points and seven rebounds. Alissa Mitchell (Milton, NH) tallied 14 points, five assists, four rebounds, and foru steals. Ashlynn Bardos (Beaumont, CA) added a career high 13 points for the Hornets.
Colby-Sawyer finished the game making 26 of 49 (53.1%) field goal attempts while Lyndon converted on 27 of their 71 (29.6%) shots. Colby-Sawyer owned a commanding 50-28 rebounding advantage. The Hornets built their first half lead by capitalizing on Charger turnovers, as 18 of Colby-Sawyer's 25 turnovers came in the opening half. Meanwhile the Hornets finished with only 12 turnovers.
The Hornets will close out the fall semester with another non-conference game on Saturday afternoon, as they will host Lasell University in a 2:00 pm tip-off.
