Thomas notches two second half goals to defeat Hornet women in NAC opener

Lyndonville, VT - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon women's soccer team opened up North Atlantic Conference play by hosting Thomas College on Saturday afternoon.  After the teams played to a scoreless first half, the Terriers were able to find the back of the net twice in the second half and come away with a 2-0 win ove the Hornets.  Lyndon falls to 1-5 overall, while Thomas evens their mark at 3-3 on the season.  The game was the NAC opener for both teams.

Thomas got second half goals from Katherine Hoving and Julia Smith in he 61st and 64th minutes respectively, and made them stand up.  The Terriers outshot the Hornets 29-8 for the game.  Lyndon goalkeeper Lauren Young (Danville, VT) stopped 16 of 18 shots on goal before she was relieved by Victoria McCormack (East Lyme, CT) in the 83rd minute.  Thomas keeper Kayla Gordan recorded six saves in recording the clean sheet and picking up the win.

The Hornets are off until next Saturday, when they will host the University of Maine at Presque Isle in another NAC matchup.  the Homecoming Weekend contest will kick off at 1:00 pm.
