Box Score Castleton, VT - The Lyndon State College women's lacrosse team was overwhelmed by North Atlantic Conference leading Castleton University on Thursday evening, falling 20-2. The Spartans remain unbeated in NAC play at 5-0 and move to 7-6 overall. The Hornets are winless in five conference starts and fall to 4-6 on the season.
Castleton took control right from the start, running out to a 14-0 first half advantage and extending their lead to 16-0 before the Hornets got on the scoreboard. Hannah Brennan (Chelsea, VT) had a big noght for the Spartans, scoring four goals and recording six assists. Erin Shuttle (Georgia, VT) and Emily Cross (Shaftsbury, VT) added three goals apiece, with Cross handing out seven assists. Mikalya Hodge (Bradford, VT) scored both Hornet goals and recorded a game high six draw controls.
Bria Willis (St. Johnsbury, VT) picked up the win in goal without making a save, as Castleton outshot Lyndon 33-4. Paige Daley (Pleasant Valley, NY) made nine stops in goal for the Hornets. The Spartans held a 32-18 advantage in ground balls and a 15-8 advantage in draw controls.
The Hornets travel to Thomas College on Saturday evening for a 5:00 pm start. Castleton will play at the University of Maine at Farmington on Saturday.
