Hornet volleyball season comes to a close at SUNY Canton tri-match

Canton, NY - The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon volleyball season came to an end at Saturday's North Atlantic Conference tri-match hosted by SUNY Canton.  The Hornets dropped 3-0 decisions to the hosts and to NVU-Johnson, and finish winless on the season.  Canton is now 12-12 overall and 3-1 in the NAC, while Johnson moves to 10-10 on the season and 1-3 in conference.

SUNY Canton 3, NVU-Lyndon 0 (25-9, 25-2, 25-8)

Canton controlled the match throughout.  Marissa Ixtlahuac led the Roo attack with seven kills while setter Peyton Robinson recorded 19 assists.  Kiya DeWitt (Pittsburg, NH) had a pair of kills for the Hornets.  Lexie Walker (Groton, CT) had two assists and Meghan Campo (Essex Junction, VT) had two digs.

NVU-Johnson 3, NVU-Lyndon 0 (25-7, 25-19, 25-11)

After Johnson ran away in the opening set, the Hornets came back with their strongest play of the day in set two, before the Badgers ultimately prevailed.  Johnson then closed out the match with a comfortable win in set three.  Nikola Knapova had eight kills and 13 service aces to lead the Badgers.  Kimberly Reville also posted eight kills and Julie Van Etten had 22 assists.  Campo had a pair of kills for the Hornets and DeWitt had two digs.
