Beavers Paddle by Hornets

HENNIKER, N.H. – The Lyndon State College women's lacrosse team fell to the University of Maine – Farmington 16-3 in North Atlantic Conference action on Wednesday at New England College's Don Melander Field.

Mikayla Hodge (Newbury, Vt.) struck first, putting the Hornets up 1-0 with 27:55 on the clock.  The Beavers then scored nine straight goals before Sydney Kipp (Bennington, Vt.) broke the streak with a score off a free-position shot to make the score 9-2 with 10:47 left in the half.  The Beavers closed out the half with three more goals to go into the break, up 12-2.  Alaina Shorey and Carly Raymond had three goals apiece during the first half while Rhi Jackson contributed four of her own.

The Beavers notched four more goals within the second half, but the Hornets were able to hold them scoreless during the final twelve minutes.  The Hornets picked up their final goal of the game off of a free-position shot from Hodge, who sailed in her second goal of the game at the 4:19 mark, leaving the game 16-3 in favor of the Beavers.

Hodge led the Hornets with two goals and two draw controls with Kipp pitching in a goal of her own.

Shore and Jackson paved the way for the Beavers with four goals each while Jackson had three ground balls and four draw controls.  Raymond added three goals, three assists, four ground balls, and six draw controls.

Samantha Bickford (4-1) took the win for the Beavers with two saves while Lyndon's Samantha Turgeon (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) (0-1) had seven saves while seeing 23 shots in the loss.

Lyndon (0-4, 0-3 NAC) travels to Colby-Sawyer College on Saturday, April 8 at 1:00 p.m.

UMF (4-1, 2-0 NAC) hosts New England College on Saturnday, April 8 at 1:00 PM.
