Box Score LYNDONVILLE, Vt. – The Lyndon State College women's lacrosse team battled the wet conditions and faced Husson Univeristy Saturday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference play, taking a 15-3 loss.
At the beginning of the game, Rebecca Zimble (Stoughton, Mass.), Gwyn Stahl (Whitinsville, Mass.), Carmen Mears (Barre, Vt.), Sydney Kipp (Bennington, Vt.), and Miranda Chute (Brentwood, N.H.) were recognized for their success as student-athletes during their time at Lyndon on Senior Day.
Danielle Kuiper (Moretown, Vt.) sailed in the first goal of the game for the Hornets at the 27:56 mark. The Eagles would then go on to score six straight until Mears found Hodge in front of the net to collect their second goal of the game at the 1:27 mark. Mariah Carrier would finish off the first half with another Husson goal, allowing them the 7-2 advantage.
The Eagles saw their first goal of the second half at the 25:45 mark and would notch five more to push the score to 13-2. On a man-up opportunity, Kipp gave the Hornets their third and final goal of the game. Husson planted two more to end the game 15-3.
Kuiper, Hodge, and Kipp scored a goal each. Kipp added four ground balls, two draw controls, and two caused turnovers. Mears had a game high of five ground balls.
Carrier led the Eagles with four goals, three ground balls, two draw controls, and four caused turnovers. Mattie Russell added three goals while Amanda Deshaies had a game high of four ground balls and seven caused turnovers along with a goal and an assist.
Kaitlin Dolloff grasped the win for the Eagles with nine saves while Samantha Turgeon took the loss also having nine saves.
Lyndon (1-8, 1-7 NAC) travels to Johnson State College for their final conference game at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.
Husson (4-6, 3-4 NAC) is back at it tomorrow against Johnson at 12:00 p.m.
