Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Lyndon State College women's soccer team travelled to play Mitchell College Saturday and left with a 1-1 draw in double overtime.
After a back and forth first half, the score remained 0-0. That would change in the 79th minute when senior Alexandra Mahar who buried a pass from Nicole Bergeron by Hornet keeper Johanna Sargent (West Brookfield, VT).
The Mariners lead wouldn't last long. In the 83rd minute sophomore Jordan Manning (Hardwick, VT) took control of a loose ball in the box and drilled it in the back of the net. After 90 minutes the women were locked at 1-1.
In the first overtime period, neither team would get off a shot. The second period would see Shelby Sheridan (Enosburg Falls, VT) turned away by Mitchell keeper Katie McBride and Alexandra Mahar denied by Sargent.
The Hornets (1-1-0) host Curry College Sunday, September 6th at 1:00pm.
