LEICESTER, Mass. – The Lyndon State College volleyball team lost the second match of the day to Maine Presque Isle, 3-1 (25-23, 25-20, 21-25, 25-15).

In the first set, the Hornets slowly built a four point lead before allowing the Owls to catch back up and eventually take the set by two.  The Owls quickly grabbed the lead in the second set and held on to win the set by five even though the Hornets rattled off four straight points before the final kill.  The third set belonged to the Hornets as they took the lead at 4-3 and never looked back as they won the set by four.  Unfortunately, the Owls would go on to run away with the fourth and final set in a ten point win.

Hannah Williams (FR, Park Falls, NS) collected 30 assists and Abby Jewett (JR, Bass Harbor, ME) registered 15 kills to lead the Owls to their second win of the season.  Hannah Boyce (SR, Bar Harbor, ME) contributed 11 kills and six service aces.  Amanda Allen (SR, Limestone, ME) led the team with 17 digs.

Laura Drake (Hinsdale, Mass.) recorded a triple-double in the losing effort with 10 kills, 14 assists, and 10 digs.  Kelleigh Murtagh (Merrimack, N.H.) tallied 13 kills, four aces, and 11 digs while Gwyneth Stahl (Whitinsville, Mass.) added nine kills, 17 assists, and 12 digs.  Ashley Barski (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) chipped in seven kills, six assists, and 12 digs.

The Hornets (2-5) travel to play Norwich University Wednesday at 7:00pm.
