Johnson tops Lyndon 78-72

JOHNSON, Vt. – The Johnson women's basketball team picked up its second win in a row, defeating North Atlantic Conference Lyndon 78-72.  The Badgers are now 5-15 overall and 2-11 in the NAC while Lyndon stands at 5-14overall and 3-10 in league play.

Brittany Robertson paced the Badgers by scoring a game-high 26 points and grabbing 10 boards for a double-double. notched 15 points and seven boards while Mary Richardson contributed 16 points.  Ashley Jones chipped in 12 points for the winners.

For the Hornets, Dannika Dobrowski (Plainfield, Vt.) came off the bench to tally a team-high 15 points while Emily Gray (Quincy, Mass.) and Chelsea Watson (Eliot, Maine) both added 12.
The Badgers pulled out to an early 15-9 lead after just seven minutes of play in the first half.

Despite Lyndon's efforts, the Hornets would never take the lead. After two scoreless minutes, the Hornets closed the gap to four points with two free-throws from Emily Strese (Gilmanton, N. H.). By the 2:13 mark, the Badgers held their lead, 29-25 but would see the Hornets surge for a 5-2 run to take the teams into the locker rooms standing at 30-31.

Schenck opened up the second half for the Badgers with a two-point jumper followed quickly by a Robertson lay-up and a two-point jumper from Emily Comins to bring the tally to 37-30 with 18:39 remaining in the half.  The Hornets attempted to close the gap but Johnson would push the lead to 13 at 49-36 with 14:57 to go in the contest. 

Lyndon would come within five points but ultimately would not overtake their hosts, ending the game 78-72.
