Box Score CASTINE, Maine -- After trailing 1-0, Lyndon scored two unanswered goals to beat Maine Maritime 2-1 in a North Atlantic Conference women's soccer match Sunday. The Hornets won their first conference game of the season and improved to 1-5 NAC and 3-9 overall. The Mariners dropped to 2-3-1in league play and 3-5-2 overall.
Sarah Brochu gave the Maine Maritime an early lead with an unassisted tally in the 15th minute. Georgia Bussink (Annapolis, Md.) quickly evened the game with an unassisted score in the 22nd minute.
Both teams had three additional shots on goal in the first half. Brochu, Briana Obshatkin and Hannah Page all saw their shots stopped by Marley Harmon (Buxton, Maine). Emily Strese (Gilmanton, N.H.) and Katy Ebner (Hampstead, N.H.), twice, also fired shots but were stopped by Taylor O'Malley.
The Hornets fired off two shots on goal in the second half before Erika Lind (Yarmouth Port, Mass.) struck in 77th minute for the eventual game winner.
Lyndon held a 14-5 advantage of shots and 6-4 on corner kicks. Harmon finished with four stops in goal for the Hornets and O'Malley ended the game with five saves.
