The Hornets took a 1-0 lead at 5:08 of the first half when Samantha Bergeron (Milton, Vt.)drilled home a shot off a cross from teammate Jesi Amsden (Orwell, Vt.). For the remainder of the half, Lyndon goalkeeper Samantha Smith (North Haverhill, N.H.) managed to keep the Hawks at bay long enough to maintain the one-goal advantage at intermission.

In the second half, Lyndon continued to control play in the midfield area early and upped its lead to 2-0 when Wilcox scored off her own rebound in front of the Becker goal. Two minutes later, the Hawks got on the scoreboard when Jodi Theriault found the back of the net on a direct kick form 25 meters out.

Smith managed to get in position to catch the Theriault shot, but it slipped through her hands and into the net. Becker had a few solid scoring chances late in the contest, but a fine defensive performance by Hornets' stopper Abby Fadden (North Haverhill, N.H.) prevented any further damage.

Smith made four saves to get the win and Hawks' netminder Christina Boucher stopped six shots in the loss.
