Box Score CASTLETON, Vt. - Katie Hoxsie led four Spartans
in double-figures with 17 points to lead Castleton to a 75-56
victory over Lyndon State in North Atlantic Conference
women's basketball action at Glenbrook Gymnasium.
Lyndon State cut the Spartan lead to three at 24-21 on a
Donna Lawson (Irasburg, Vt.) jumper with just
under seven minutes remaining in the half, but a 13-2 run over the
next five minutes put the game out of reach. A Megan Johnson lay-up
with 2:11 remaining capped the Spartan run, which featured six
different Spartan scorers. Castleton maintained the 14-point
cushion for the remainder of the half, leading 43-29 at the
break.
Castleton saw its lead bulge to as many as 26 at 66-40 with six
minutes remaining in the game, before settling in for the 19-point
margin.
Christine Jaques followed Hoxsie in the scoring column with 13
points. The sophomore guard stroked a tri of three-pointers, hauled
in seven rebounds and also dished out six assists. Kristie Dunchus
was a perfect 5-for-5 from the field and finished with 11 points,
while Laura Cary added a dozen off the bench on 5-for-6
shooting.
Lawson led the Lady Hornets with 17 points and 13 rebounds.
Abby Fadden (North Haverill, N.H.) added 13 and
Daniel LaFont (Albany, Vt.) chipped in with 11.
Fadden had a team-high four assists in the contest and
Stephanie Barclay (Woodbury, Vt.) had three
steals.
