Northfield, VT - The Vermont State University Lyndon men's tennis team opened their 2026 season with a non-conference match at Norwich University on Wednesday afternoon. Unfortunately for the Hornets, the host Cadets captured every flight en route to a 7-0 victory. It was also the first match of the season for Norwich,
The Cadets took all three doubles flights without dropping a game. Lyndon didn't fare much better in singles, as the hosts rolled to 6-0, 6-0 victories in four of six flights. In the best match of the day, second singles, Norwich's Terrance Bayly-Henshaw edged Lyndon's Wesley McINtyre (Troy, NY), 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (10-6). Addie Jensen (Coventry, VT) was the only other Hornet to win a game. She fell, 6-1, 6-0, to Stephen Hartigan in fifth singles.
Lyndon will return to action on Saturday, March 21st, when they travel to the State University of New York at Delhi for a doubleheader. The first match of the twin bill witll be the first Empire 8 match of the season. A non-conference match will follow. First serve is scheduled for 11:00 am.
