Match #1 - VTSU Lyndon 8, VTSU Johnson 1

The Hornets got off to a fast start, as the second doubles team of Wesley McIntyre (Troy, NY) and Stephen Wutzl (Brookfield, CT) blitzed the Johnson pairing of David Heath and Spencer Tergeoglou, 8-0.  Lyndon's number one team of Jeffrey Blais (Newport, VT) and David Gratton (Newport, VT) followed right behind with an 8-0 win over Johnson's Aidance Cheromiah and Jack Senecal.  Gilbert Flores (Winsted, CT) and James Salvas (Morrisville, VT) made it a doubles sweep for Lyndon with a hard fought 8-6 win over Johnson's Mohammed Semega and Caitlin Morey.

McIntyre picked up the first singles win when he blew past Heath, 6-0, 6-0 at number three.  Blais then clinched the match for the Hornets with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Cheromiah at first singles.

With the match decided, Senecal got Johnson on the board with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Gratton at second singles.  In the best singles contest of the day, Wutzl outlasted Tergeoglou, 6-4, 6-7 (3-7), 1-0 (10-4) in the fourth singles matchup.  Flores and Salvas rounded out the match with a pair of pro set wins.  Salvas downed Charlie Guyette, 8-0, at six and Flores edged Semega, 8-6, at five.
