Northfield, VT - Norwich University swept all nine flights to defeat Vermont State University Lyndon in Saturday's men's tennis match.  The match was the season opener for both teams.

The Cadets jumped in front by sweeping the three doubles matches.  In the most competitive of the three flights, the Norwich dup of Terrance Bayly-Henshaw and Jaxson Redmond bested Lyndon's Jeffrey Blais (Newport, VT) and David Gratton (Newport, VT), 8-3, at number one.  Thomas Riddick and Ethan Teluk were 8-1 winners over James Salvas (Morrisville, VT) and Gilbert Flores (Winsted, CT) in the third flight.  Keagan Bakke and Gabe Wettig swept Wesley McIntyre (Troy, NY) and Stephen Wutzl (Brookfield, CT), 8-0, at second doubles.

Norwich continued to have their way in singles.  Bakke won a hard fought 6-1, 6-4 victory over Blais in the first flight and Bayly-Henshaw downed Gtatton, 6-2, 6-2 at number two to clinch the match for the Cadets.  with the team result decided, Redmond defeated McIntyre and Wettig defeated Wutzl, both by 6-1, 6-0 scores, at thrid and fourth singles respectively.  Riddick rolled past Flores, 6-0, 6-0, in the fifth flight.

In the best match of the day, Salvas took the first set from Teluk.  However the Norwich number six rallied to take the second set, then prevailed in a tiebreaker to come away wth a 3-6, 6-0, 1-0 (10-5) victory.

The Hornets will return to action on Friday evening at the Topnotch Tennis Academy in Stowe, VT, for a pair of non-conference matches against Vermont State University Johnson.  First serve is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
