Lyndonville, NY - The Vermont State University Lyndon women's tennis team opened their 2024 season with a pair of non-conference matches against Vermont State University Castleton on Wednesday afternoon. The visiting Spartans picked up the sweep, cruising to 9-0 victories in both ends of the doubleheader. Castleton evened their overall record in the process, moving to 2-2 on the season.

Hannah Badertscher (Irasburg, VT) was the only Lyndon player to take a game, as she fell 8-1 to Castleton's Pearl Bellomo. The Spartans swept the other flights without dropping a game.
Match 2 - VTSU Castleton 9, VTSU Lyndon 0
The Hornets didn't fare much better in the nightcap. Castleton's first doubles team of Stella Forte and Madelyn Nonni picked up an 8-1 win over the Lyndon duo of Kiara Mack (Winooski, VT) and Victoria Fitih (Madison, TN) and Fitih fell to Sophia Hussak at fourth singles, also by an 8-1 margin. The Spartans didn't drop a game in any of the other flights.
Lyndon will open North Atlantic Conference play of Saturday afternoon when they host the State University of New York at Delhi at 2:30 pm.
