Farmington, ME - The University of Maine at Farmington scored ten man-up goals and cruised to a 14-1 North Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse victory over Vermotn State University Lyndon on Wednesday afternoon. The Beavers improved to 4-6 overall and 1-3 in the NAC with the win. The Hornets remain winless in seven outings, including four conference contests.
Abby Trefsger had a big game for the Beavers. She scored four goals, added a pair of assists, and recorded game highs of five ground balls and five draw controls. Emma Dunn, Ashlee Farrar, Ruby McMinis, and Emilie Crocker all tallied two goals. Farrar also notched five ground bails and Allie Bliss caused five turnovers. Kate Nowell went the distance in goal, earning the win while making three saves.
Thea Cooper (Barton, NY) scored the only Lyndon goal off of an assist from Kiara Mack (Winooski, VT). Mack was also credited with five ground balls, three caused turnovers, and three draw controls. Alyssa Gerrish (Washington, VT) and Bridget Denio (Waterford, VT) each played a half in goal for the Hornets. Gerrish made one save while Denio made two.
The Hornets will play their long awaited home opener on Saturday monrning at 10:00 am, when they host Maine Maritime Academy on Versity Field.
