Bangor, ME - Husson University pounded out 30 runs and 30 hits en route to a North Atlantic Conference softball sweep of Vermont State University Lyndon. The Eagles improved to 14-4 overall and 2-0 in the NAC. Lyndon fell to 5-12 on the season and 1-3 in conference.
Game 1 - Husson 22, VTSU Lyndon 0
Husson exploded for 17 runs in the second inning and steamrolled the Hornets. Tori Exel had three hits, including two doubles, and five runs batted in. Kenzie Dore also had three hits, including a home run, and drove in four runs. Lydia Rice had three hits and scored four runs and Lyndsee Reed added three hits and three runs scored. Jazmin Johnson, the second of three Husson pitchers, took the loss.
Victoria Valentine (East Burke, VT), Riann Fortin (Newport, VT), and Seairra Anderson (Somersworth, NH) had the only Lyndon hits. Valentine took the loss in the circle.
Game 2 - Husson 8, VTSO Lyndon 0
Josie Cornell had three hits for the Eagles. Julia Gregoire homered and Camryn King addd two hits and three runs batted in. Sierra Yates, the second Husson pitcher of the game, earned the win.
Anderson's double and Caitlin Haggett's (St. Johnsbury, VT) single were the only Lyndon hits. Bailey Quire (Gainesville, FL) went the distance and took the loss.
Lyndon returns home on Thursday when they host Eastern Nazarene College in another NAC doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
