Johnson, VT - The Vermont State University Lyndon women's tennis team dropped a pair of matches to Vermotn State University Johnson on Saturday afternoon, both by 9-0 margins. The first match was a North Atlantic Conference contest, while the nightcap was a non-conference affair. Johnson improved to 4-7 overall and 1-4 in conference, while Lyndon concludes the campaign winless in ten matches, including five conference outings.
Match #1 - VTSU Johnson 9, VTSU Lyndon 0
Johnson swept three points in doubles without losing a game. The Hornets were more competitive in singles, but the Badgers still prevailed in each flight. Niyjah Wright (Washington, DC) and Ella Huntington (Taylorsville, UT) had the best showings for Lyndon. Wright fell to Johnson's Kaitlyn Stone and Huntington fell to the Badgers' Kali Wooster at first and second singles respectively, both by 8-5 scores.
Match #2 - VTSU Johnson 9, VTSU Lyndon 0
The Badgers again swept the three doubles matches. With Lyndon defaulting sixth singles, the Badgers clinched the match when Caitlyn Morey defeated Megan Richardson (Essex Junction, VT), 6-0, 6-3 at fifth singles. At that point, the Hornets retired in the other four flights.
The Hornets now look to rebuilding and returning to competitiveness in 2025.
