CASTINE, Maine - Lyndon split a pair of games with Maine Maritime Academy in a North Atlantic Conference double-header. The Hornets won the first game 4-2 before the Mariners took the second 7-1.

The Hornets took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning when Jillian Emery (Johnson, Vt.) doubled in Jena Finnegan (Keeseville, N.Y.). Emery later singled home Jen Lynch (Portland, Maine) in the third and Ashley Barski (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) in the fifth. Julia McNeil's (Lowell, Mass.) sacrifice fly in the fifth scored Emery to give Johnson State a 4-0 lead.

The Mariners got on the board in the bottom of the fifth on an Ashley Burnett sacrifice hit that plated Autumn Jones. Kelsie Hilton's single to left scored Leah Jackson in the bottom of the seventh for MMA.

Finnegan had a game-high three hits for Lyndon and Emery added two while five different Mariners recorded hits. Katie Davis (North Haverhill, N.H.) picked up the win with six strikeouts and seven walks while Erica Taylor took the loss for MMA.

The Mariners jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning of game two when Taylor plated Cindy Schultz with a single to center. MMA tacked on four more in the fourth to lead 5-0. Jones scored from third after Molly Marcotte stole second, Marcotte later scored on an error, and Schultz drove in Sabrina Keach and Burnett with a single to center.

Jackson belted her NAC-leading fifth home run of the season in the sixth before Lyndon got on the board in the seventh when Emery's grounder to third scored Barski,

Taylor improved to 5-6 with four strikeouts and just four hits while Meghan Gadapee took the loss.

On Saturday, Husson earned two NAC wins against Lyndon.

Game 1 was close for the first two innings until Sami Schultz hit one to right center in the bottom of the third, sending Courtney Hill and Heidi Shaw home.

The score remained 2-0 until the bottom of the fifth inning with two outs when Melissa Souza hit a double and Schultz hit a single to the left side. Aimee Mortensen stepped up next to hit a triple to right center and an RBI on Souza's score. Mortensen closed out the inning by scoring on a wild pitch.

Lyndon had a hard time getting anything past the Eagles fielders in the first game of the day, as Husson got a 1-2-3 out in both the top of the 6th and the top of the 7th. Lynch registered the lone hit for the Hornets.

Eagles' pitcher Becca McCarty got the win pitching a complete seven innings and giving up only one hit. Davis gave up 12 hits in the loss.

Husson started off Game 2 at a sprint with Lona Sargent getting to first off a ball error at third. Then, Deb Colpitts hit a single down the right field line and followed it up by stealing second. Shultz showed up and hit a double down the right field line to advance both Sargent and Colpitts home for two runs.

In the bottom of the second, Shaw hit a double to right center and Kayla Merrill hit a single to left, sending Shaw home and adding one more Eagles run to the board.

Lyndon responded in the top of the third when Emery batted a double to right field and advanced the two runners, Lynch and Jenna Carpenter (Barnet, Vt.), home.

Husson bit back in the bottom of the fourth when Haley Spiers got on first and Souza advanced her to second. Sargent advanced to first on a fielding error and then stole second. Merrill hit a double to right center which sent Sargent and Spiers across home. Colpitts closed out the inning by knocking a triple down the right field line, sending Merrill home and making it 6-2 in favor of Husson.

In the bottom of the fifth Spiers hit a home run, which sent Mortensen home, and Shaw and Souza also scored. Their runs brought the score to 10-2 and ended the game in the bottom of the fifth.

Amanda Ryan pitched for the win, allowing just one earned run. Gadapee picked up the loss. Spiers, Sargent, and Shaw each scored two runs for Husson in the win, and Merrill had five RBIs.
